When a post fails to publish, it shows an Error status in the calendar. Here are the most common causes and how to fix them.

My post shows “Error” status

  1. Open the Calendar
  2. Click on the post with the error icon
  3. Click View Error to see the error message
  4. Follow the specific fix below based on the error

Channel token expired

Symptoms: Post fails with an authorization or token error. Cause: OAuth tokens from social platforms expire periodically (typically every 60 days for Facebook/Instagram). When the token expires, Postzee can no longer publish on your behalf. Fix:
  1. Go to Channels
  2. Find the channel showing “Needs Reconnection”
  3. Click Reconnect
  4. Complete the authorization flow
  5. Reschedule the failed post
Postzee sends you a notification when a channel needs reconnection. Reconnect it before your next scheduled post to avoid errors.

Content rejected by platform

Symptoms: Post fails with a content policy or moderation error. Cause: The social platform (Instagram, TikTok, etc.) detected that the content violates their community guidelines. Fix:
  1. Review the error message for specific details
  2. Edit the post content — remove any flagged text or media
  3. Reschedule the post
Common reasons for rejection:
  • Explicit or sensitive content
  • Copyrighted music in videos
  • Spam-like text or excessive hashtags
  • Text overlays that cover too much of the image (Instagram)

Unsupported media format

Symptoms: Post fails with a format or file error. Cause: The media file format is not supported by the platform. Fix:
  • Videos: Must be in MP4 format. Convert other formats (MOV, AVI, MKV) to MP4 before uploading.
  • Images: Use JPG, PNG, or WebP. Most platforms don’t accept BMP, TIFF, or SVG.
  • Check platform-specific limits (e.g., TikTok requires videos between 3-60 seconds)

Post published but shows as error

Symptoms: The post actually appeared on the social network, but Postzee shows it as “Error.” Cause: The platform accepted the post but returned an unexpected response format. This is rare and usually caused by temporary API issues. Fix:
  • Check the social network directly to confirm the post is live
  • The post will remain as “Error” in Postzee, but no action is needed
  • If this happens frequently, contact support

Rate limit exceeded

Symptoms: Multiple posts fail in a short time, error mentions “rate limit” or “too many requests.” Cause: You’re publishing too many posts in a short period. Each platform has limits on how many posts can be made per hour/day. Fix:
  • Space out your scheduled posts (at least 5-10 minutes apart)
  • Reduce the number of posts per day to that platform
  • Wait 1-2 hours and reschedule the failed posts

Post was scheduled but never published

Symptoms: The post stays in “Scheduled” status even after the publish time has passed. Cause: The channel was disconnected or disabled when the publish time arrived. Fix:
  1. Check if the channel is connected and active in Channels
  2. Reconnect if needed
  3. Reschedule the post to a future time
Posts cannot be published retroactively. If a scheduled post missed its window, you must reschedule it to a new date/time.

Still having issues?

If none of the above solutions work:
  1. Check the error message carefully — it often includes specific guidance
  2. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the affected channel
  3. Contact support through the chat widget with the error message
